Abortion: A Moral Issue

Abortion refers to the termination of pregnancy at any stage that does not result in birth; medically, abortion is typically defined as the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embrayo before fetal viability. An abortion can occur spontaneously, in which case it is usually called a miscarriage, or it can be purposely induced. The term abortion most commonly refers to the induced abortion of a human rather than non-human pregnancy (Wikipedia).

Here's a nice story about abortion:

A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said:
"Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 yr. old and I'm pregnant again. I don't want kids so close together."
So the doctor said: 'Ok, and what do you want me to do?'

She said: 'I want you to end my pregnancy, and I'm counting on your help with this.'
The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady: "I think, I have a better solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you too.'

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.
Then he continued: 'You see, in order for you not to have to take care of 2 babies at the same time, let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we're going to kill one of them, it doesn't matter which one it is.

There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.
The lady was horrified and said: 'No doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill a child!
'I agree', the doctor replied. 'But you seemed to be ok with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.

The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point. He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that's already been born and one that's still in the womb. The crime is the same!

The debate regarding the legality and morality of abortion generates a tremednous amount of emotional energy from both sides of the debate. Those in favor and those opposed to the legality of abortion are passionate about what they believe in, and each side feels they are doing what is in the best interests of the mother, the potential child, and our society. The abortion issue is a reflection of our society as a whole, which is why so many people insist on taking a position about it. Many of these people will never have an abortion, many will never be in a position were it is necessary to consider it as an option. Yet, because the abortion issue strikes at the heart of our society, they become advocates for one side or another.

Well, let me share you my insights about this issue. One of the Commandments is "Thou shall not kill."So in the first place, abortion should not be legalized. Remember that a fetus already has life and who are we to take away that life. Even though others say that it is a solution to overpopulation, well think again. There are still a lot of other solutions to that problem. Abortion must not even be an option. In the first place, you made that child, you should face the consequences, right?

Yes we are all free. We have the freedom to choose our decisions in life BUT there are limitations to that freedom. We must first know if the action is moral or immoral. We must weigh the consequences of it.

ABORTION = MURDER

"WHAT YOU ARE
is GOD'S GIFT TO YOU.
WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT
is YOUR GIFT TO GOD."
